Hi guys. New to the forum. Just joined from down under in Oz where I own 1 of only 25 S2's brought in by Audi between 1994 and 1996. Anyway, I have been dealing with Martyn from VAGPARTS in UK and he is sending me over some goodies at the moment. However, I have a bad vibration when I back off under load that goes away when I dip the clutch. It sounds / feels like drive shaft vibration. Is this normal. car has done 137000km and I have recently fitted new clutch, and coil-overs. Any ideas

One of our guy's on here has a Kingfisher blue S2 and is about to emigrate to OZ, he's just working out how to take the car with him(Graham) so there could be 26 S2's soon.

The drive shafts are still connected when you drop the clutch. It may be an exhaust problem or maybe a wheel bearing. Get under the car and shake and wobble everything. The rear diff mount may be worn or maybe a gearbox diff problem. S2's go on for interstellar mileages and 134K is hardly run in!.
The main driveshaft to the rear can go on S2s - I know the previous owner replaced it on my car. ETKA calls it a "propellor shaft" Over £1000 from the stealers here though !!
Thanks guys
I have done the 'wobble test' on all obvious underbody items. Wheel bearings are new, - propeller shaft sounds scarey though I'm hoping it's a diff mount As for white line sway bars, they are great, but surely u can get better variety in the Northern Hemisphere As for Graham with the Kingfisher blue S2, I'd offer he needs to check out the following link, http://www.dotars.gov.au/transreg/vsb/vsb_10.htm
Essentially Graham must apply for and receive approval prior to putting his car on the boat. If he arrives in Oz and the car doesn't have import approval, they'red be a lot of spare parts available and there is no recourse or appeal Remember being a 'grey import' it's value would probably be about 2/3rd of an Oz delivered car of similar age and condition , so he'd have to do his sums.
Anyway Sorry about the waffle I'll let u know how I go

I have had a simliar problem with the vibration, but it only occured at certain revs. I later found out it was a bearing on the gearbox apparently. Didnt get to look at it myself but thats what my audi specialist said.
Thanks for that. Once all the bushes and mounts turn up from VAGPARTS this week, shall hopefully be able to eliminate some of these I'll let u know
