6 Speed shifter replacement options

I am pretty much sure the shifter i have is stopping me from selecting gears. It looks alittle low.

I am trying to weigh up the best way to sort this problem out and am looking for input from others who have had the same problem.

Do i buy a
*034 aluminum option
*New OEM
*Other ?


2nd hand ones are going to be just as bad and rotten i think?

Now this is what I'm talking about! So is a brand Spanking new Ball n joint, and shifter bushes the **** or a Aluminium bad lad kit fro 034?

The solid JDH one from 034 looks like a good bit of kit, i have emailed them with a request.

So can anyone confirm a Allot Shoft Shift 6 Speed Shift that HAS a Reverse lock out, and fits and works great?

I don't fancy laying 430 BHP into my little Tungsten Reverse Cog! :-(

Does anybody remember the short shift kits sold about 5 years ago? They looked identical to the original lever/plastic ball but had the pivot point moved. From memory they could be fitted to 5 speed or 6 speed cars as they re used the original base plate. I have one in my CQ but cant remember where i bought it from...

The kit looked like OE stuff to me, maybe the level part was just from another car in the VW/Audi group.

Hi, i may be talking out of term here but i recall is the Vagpart kit not just a Mk1 Golf shifter? I have 1 on mine, ace mod. Hope this helps?
