Does torsen wear

Decided to strip the centre diff out a spare gearbox I have to gain some understanding how torsen works, which is a lot simpler than had be imagining now I'v had one in bits to work out that any descriptions I ever read.

Anyway noticed that one gears was clearly polished where it mitts and feels slightly wore.


Do torsen not claim that there diffs dont wear and will live out the life the car, was plenty oil in the gearbox...

i think the gearbox CHUNK sound goes from torsen, so it means torsen does wear

They must do as the whole principal of torsen is that is works on the friction between the different gears. I think its hard to determine wear though as they are set up with a certain amount of "play" in them to allow these friction differentials between different loads.
