    RS2 Driveline Shunt

    Folks

refettling the suspension just now but thinking while I'm at it I should sort the Engine, Gearbox and Diff Mounts too as I have a fair amout of driveline shunt.

My questions are, for an RS2, what can I get from where, stock or upgraded and how many mounts need replaced ( I have no idea how many mounts for Engine, gearbox or diff!)?

    Any pointers appreciated.
    Paul

I have a set of 034 ones I have just removed from my car, done 1000 mile but I'm running reverse Inlet and makes engine sit too high, would be OK for a standard RS2.
I got my new ones from audi at least they will fit

engine mounts will cause a problem with 034 mounts and reverse inlet. I couldnt fit them either. But they should be ok for normal inlet.

I also use 034 street density gear box mounts and they are very good.

rear diff mount, OEM(slightly modified by myself) I couldnt stand the vibration from the apicol unit.

        thanks for the replies.

        what density with those 034s?

I can't find gearbox mounts on the 034 site, do you have a link?

Finally, how much do Audi ask for a standard Diff mount?

        Ta.

i dont remember the price for the original diff mount.

anything i bought from 034 was street density rather than track. I still want to have a decent car driving everyday!

for the rs2 you only need 2 mounts.(gearbox).

That keeps it more affordable, mind you the mounts aren't a killer price.

What I can't work out is if they do a street density diff mount. I'm guessing that would be the blue one and I don't tick the track density radio button to select it just wish it was more explicit. Any ideas if the street density mount would be too harsh? Failing that is the OE mount from Audi the whole mount and bush or is bush only possible?

              Sorry for all the questions!!

i use the street density gearbox mounts and they are very good. I have OEM engine mounts and OEM diff mount. The diff mount that is considered an upgrade is the apicol (blue or red) unit. I tried it and sold it. I didnt like it because under boost condition it transfered lots of vibration in the car even after correct alignment of the propshaft etc.

sounds like the 034 and Apicol might be the same thing as the bush colours are the same!

Can I ask how much the OE mount from Audi is?

I'll ask tomorrow at the stealers!!

Mine is 120K and the whole drivetrain feels sloppy. General freshen up would do it no harm at all.

sure. See what needs changing though. The diff mount visually inspected under the car to see if it is damaged. gear box mounts, need to be taken out to know.

Over here €180 from the stealers. Its the only mount i haven't changed and i still have too much drive train shunt.

On the best fixes, and probably the cheapest is to sort out a decent front snub mount bracket. Use something like the sport quattro mount that fully supports the snub mount and a lot of the slack on deceleration will be removed.

Looking to do the same to my RS2, ie all four engine / gearbox mounts.

Have a snub mount from Rusty

Are the 034 engine mounts intensionally taller, or is it that they don't settle as much. How much taller, fitted, are they?

Do any other companies do uprated (street use) mounts?

                              Cheers
