RS2 slave cylinder or master cylinder failure?

I had a problem with the RS2 yesterday. Over the last week the clutch pedal has been feeling stiffer and the pedal sank about half its length. Then yesterday I went to change gear and the pedal went to the floor.
Im guessing its either the slave cylinder or the master cylinder?
Are either parts shared with any other brands of cars?

    What are your thoughts?

Have a look at the linkage between the pedal and master cylinder, it has a rubber donut in the middle which can fail.

Yip, saw that thanks, 99 pounds which is a lot cheap than out here. Ive been quoted $660NZD which is 310 pounds! Oh, and 7 days to get it out here.
I have got in touch with PW Motorsport but I dont know if they will export to NZ. Time frame is a bit of a factor since the RS2 is my daily.

So know one has ever rebuilt or heard of anyone rebuilding the master cylinder?

There is the possibility of a fix, but I have never seen a failure myself to document it. The joint on the actuator arm fails, so if that could be repaired somehow then, yes it would work again. You will have to take it out and have a look....

                Cheers,

                Steve.

OK, so Ive just been down and had a look at it.
Its not leaking, the pin/rod is bend in the middle and its snapped at the end (have both parts)
I took it to a good mechanic who said he might be able to repair it. I have to check back with him at the end of play today.
                  Fingers crossed!

Let us all know how you get on, this is a known weak point in the clutch mechanism...

I've had it straightened and welded, just have to see if it works now . . .

                      It should be in tomorrow.

I believe there needs to be an element of articulation for the master cylinder to work. I will be interested to see if it works correctly.

                        Best of luck.

                        Cheers,

Years ago my S4 suffered the same fate. I was able to attach a rod from a type 44. All you need to get the job done is a pair of snap ring pliers. It was a little bit longer but there was enough thread to adjust it. If your welded one doesn't hold up maybe you can give this a try.

I ran like this up until a month ago and then the seals finally blew out after 240k miles.

I can send you the rod if you need one. Just cover postage.

Any pictures or a write up? Did your mechanic simply weld the joint back up?
