The "twannngggg" noise is your ABS having a freak attack. Nothing to worry about, mine does it every time i start the car and drive off.

The diff/prop shaft play is more of a "clank" noise when you stick it in reverse and sometimes it can be heard when you go into 1st again.

I get a Twannnng noise when I first pull away and completely disengage the clutch. It only happens when you first pull away after the car has been standing, not in traffic. Is this the noise people are referring too or do I have some other strange symptom?

Haha! I received my N/A model rear diff today! It feels absolutely great! No slack! Wu-huu

As a remark would be probably good to mention that it is not yet bolted on, but there's a distinct difference when turning it by hand compared to the one that's in the car.

Bloody Hell! I have only just noticed this reply to my q about 8 months ago!
