It certainly has! Its a shame as its only covered just over 60k and everything else is perfect synchroniser wear the lot...

I have some spare boxes all with different issues.. but cant see the point of building it to produce one good one.

I have a CGR box which i will rebuild ready for the 6 speed conversion...

Pulled the old box apart to see what went wrong. I was expecting it to be an input bearing but it wasn't. 2nd gear has spun all its teeth off the input shaft and knocked a couple of the gear too.....

    Spare parts me thinks.....

Not driven it yet due to the weather.... I presume the Torsion will act as it does in my RS4 given they are similar components with similar torque split, if it does it will be an up grade...

    I will let you know..

I think what is being referred to is the 5 speed as fitted to the early S2 3b, but yes the early 6 speeds (fitted to the ABY) did have the narrower 1st gear which was a week point more from noise than failure, i think....

Its an AVC 016 box that was fitted to the last of the RR's. I am going to gather all the necessary parts and convert it to 6 speed next winter..
