  • how to indentify v8 torsen diff ?

    Hello folks,
i have bit stupid question...how to indentify v8 torsen diff ?
Where are codes and numbers located?
It came off from v8 3,6 with 6 speed manual.Diff looks like factory recon unit (painted black, has some white V8 stamps on) but i cant find any part numbers or letters on it (i dont know where to look at)
    sry,no pics at the moment.

Some pics of proper torsen diff might help..

    Thanks

audi 200 v8 chassi D11 from 88(89) to 1994 the only rear diff WITH thorsen.. marked AFV or AXZ.... look by the oildrainplug.. there shuldt bee some stampin in the housing..
the audi 200 in 88-94 doesnt have the 6tr tranny in...but it might bee a change... it will fit a 6trin the chassi

All i found was letters AFV and 3 something. That was underneath the diff, near input flange.
I used search before i posted this thread.. couldnt find anything useful

Edit:AFV makes sense,it is V8 torsen diff with 4.11 ratio

        cheers

The most important thing is the 4.11 ratio which is the same as our S2, RS2, UrS4 and UrS6 front and rear differentials. I tell people to check the ratio be rotating the output flange and counting the number of times the input shaft rotates. If it is less than 4, you have the wrong diff; if it is *just* more than 4, then you likely have the correct rear diff (at least ratio-wise).

on audi v8 rear diff with torssen , you will see on few places "V8" sign.. and there is no shifter on right side which lock or un lock the diff. this place is closed.
            you know what I mean.
4.11 ratio is very important.. listen the UrS4boy..
            regards

                V8 rear torsen differential PNs

AFV appears to be a 3.6L V8 automatic rear torsen diff. Not that it matters. The key part is the rear axel ratio based on a 37/9 crown and pinion is 4.11, exactly what you need.
