Hi guys, i've just purchased an MTM S2 Avant, However its wont go into any gears.....
I fear this maybe the clutch. I am running about 320bhp, will a standard S2 clutch be worthy enough, or will i need an uprated clutch?
Nice. There were a few post recently with a similar problem and I think from memory it was nothing to do with the clutch but a leaking hydrolic system, have a check on the forum.

Is it green and has custom big 8" bass drivers in the front doors?
If your asking me? I went and looked at it. Guy was just driving it and did not seem to know much about looking after a car (just my opinion) oil in engine was just touch the bottom of the dip stick! Rust covered over in tail gate with filler and had been resprayed (lower bonnet edge) I thought that was enough for me. I ended up buying a rough S2 but nothing was hiden and it cost me 1600 quid. Later found out he had bought it for about 3600 6-9 months earlier. Saw his second add on piston heads which had been copied from an ebay add for a really tidy 2 /3 owner S2 that sold for 4800 and been really well looked after. As I said this is just my opinion.
All that said and done hope your pleased with it. How far have you driven it before the clutch issue?
Yea that sounds like the guy, apparenty he had an old 911
This is my first S2 so didnt know what to expect, seemed good condition compared to others i looked at though, the oil was low and he said he ha olny done about 400 miles, anyhow i gave it a full service etc, drove it for 2 days (100 miles) an then just wouldnt go into gear..
It could well be the master cylinder which has failed. You can check by taking the lower parcel shelf off under the steering wheel (4 screws). There is an M6 threaded bar that he a flexible joint in the middle before it joins the pushrod itself. These are well know to fail and will result in you not being able to activate the master cylinder and there for the clutch.
The part is about £150 - £180 and often on back order at dealers or Peter at Quattro Corner (sponsor on here).
HTH
Cheers,
Steve
P.S. The standard clutch is good for 350 - 400 bhp if you treat it witth respect.
