all types of theese gaerboxes can be used... but not CBL code. check out the gearboxcodes between the to upper boltrholes in the bellhousing.... think on thesse; the gearcode are the prod year and ratio, so i think you will have the same ratio in front and back..

All gearboxes from 5 cyl petrol engines with quattro and 5 gears are a direct swap. One noticable exeption is the competition models that have a different ratio.

Im using a CQ20V 01A box, works just fine. Top speed is somewhat affected, but acceleration is better.
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried.

      -CQ 3b "S2".

meh, i dont think it works that way over here in the USA.

        for instance.

the CQ uses an 01A with a 4.11 final drive, while the B5A4 uses the 01A and 3.89 final drive.

then there is the UrS4, which has a 5 speed 01E with 4.11 final drive.

and then they are also not a direct swap. the 01E is 1" longer than the 01A, and needs a shorter propshaft. also the shifter assembly is different. on the 01A the reverse gear is found to the right and towards the rear of the car. but for the 01E it is to the left (donw to the floor) and then forward like the FWD VW's all have.

so, to answer your question, you can use any 01E except one from an Allroad as that has a 4.375 final drive. the 01E 5 and 6 speeds have 4.11 final drives, at least here in USA.

while this info isnt perfect, its very close. but from what i know, the 3B/ABY S2 are 4.11 final drive and you can use any trans that has that as the final as well.

          with how many power/torque??

top speed is way affected, expect around 240km/h 7000rpm

and you know....100km/ 2900rpm AFAIK,that it is ot bad,but 140km/h are around 4000rpms.... not the best for long cruises but very good for track use

mine is from CQ 7A engine, 01A ASZ gearbox

all types gearboxes will fit: the old 016 or 01a 5tr will be direckt fit; BUT you does check out the RATIO and year code... between the upper boltholes in bellhousing( stamped in like ; AHA, or CDK and some nr's) some detalils are differen too, like the inner propchaftyoke and if its a thorsen type, you dint have the centerlockunit outside...Pm the code , and people on this exelent forum will help you out..
