How do you remove rear CV from flange?

I'm trying to remove the rear dif CV from the output flange in order to fit my exhaust.
Removed the 6 bolts, the plate that sits over the end comes off thats clipped to the rubber boot but can't seem to get the centre piece off the diff output flange

    Any tips ?

**** it with a soft mallet, it'll just be a little stuck.

They can stick quite tightly in the diff output flanges. Give it a sharp clout with a rubber hammer or the butt of a lump hammer handle.

tried that, does this sit in a recess on the output flange ? Also any chance i could damage the bearing in the diff ?

Any i have removed seemed to come out fairly trouble free. A bit of a shock from a mallet sounds like the order of the day.

Yes there is a couple of mm recess which the CV joint sit's in. If your worried about damaging something take the wheel off and split the bottom balljoint on that side then try hitting it.

As K Simmonds says is sits inside a lip so smack it in the direction of the wheel and it should pop out.

Use a brass drift to transfer the impact from the hammer to the flange -- just pops off then with no damage to flange
