    centre propbearing symptons?

    ok lads

have a small issue with the colgate wagon, its had this since the first time i owned it.you drive along accelerate fine, you lift off the throttle and you get a fouling noise underneath.you push the clutch pedal in and release the drive and the noise goes.

its obviously prop related as its in the centre area and changes with the speed of the car(when you reduce speed the noise comes less and less).

at first i thought it could be a heatshield rubbing on the prop, but its more of a heavyer metal noise, could it be the centre prop bearing?

I would have said heat shield, at the very back closest to the diff. Familiar with it as mine rubs in reverse due to worn out diff mount. In my experience noisy prop bearings make noise all the time regardless of load.
