  • Are urS4 & urS6 gearboxes and linkages the same ?

    Is a urS4 gearbox the same as a urS6 gearbox ?

    1. Is the manual linkage bits the same ?

    2. Looking at changing the auto gearbox out of my urS6 and swopping in an urS4 / urS6 manual gearbox ?

    3. I know I’ll need to swop out the auto pedal box.

    3. Is this possible without taking out the dash ?

    4. Any other bits I’ll need ?

    5. or issues I should be aware of ?

    6. I understand from another member that I’ll need the manual gearbox flywheel ?

    7. Will I need to swop out the front driveshafts ?

    8. Any links to write-ups from people who’ve already done this conversion ?

Thanks vey much for any assistance.

do not use the CBL urs4 tranny, its the badest of all trannys; BUT the autobox cars had 3,889 ratio in the rear too... so check out the ratio; if not you need the change to 4,111
you will find 6tr trannys with 3,889; but those arent commen

Popdemonic from Bangkok who posts here just went through the swap. You need the std trans flywheel (and clutch), pedal set, clutch master and slave cylinders and hoses, etc., 01E trans (duh), rear diff (locker or EDL but with 4.11:1 (37/9) gears, front axels, and std trans prop shaft. Lots of work, not for the faint-hearted. Easier to buy a manual trans UrS and sell the auto trans UrS. Pop had no choice, all the UrS cars imported to Thailand were autobox. (IIRC).

      Good luck.
