Rear Axle Lubricant

    Rear Axle Lubricant

    Hi
    Anyone have any advice as to what is the best lubricant to use in rear axle please? Anything particular to watch for whilst draining / replacing?

    Ian,

    The rear axle uses 1.3 ltrs of oil (ish!!). The oil Spec should be a GL5 and its SAE90.

    As for what's best, anyone else???

    I posted the procedure for this a while back, more than likely in the Transmission section, have a search for it.

      I'd personally use Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Oil

          Always the way!! never can find it when I want it ;-)

          I'm sure it was under transmission, going back over a month on this forum. I'll post it to you with those bolts I have to send you tomorrow.
