Did you see any obvious reason that would prevent interchangeability with an S2 diff?

I'm going to take some measurements tomorrow night and post them. I think they look to be a very similar size.

The protruding edge shown here over the mounting holes at the rear end is very useful when mounting the diff into the car as it engages over the top of the support that is to be bolted on in 3 places.
