    gearbox(tdi) compatability

    I have a tdi 01e from 1992ish a6 quattro, (AAT5cyl block)

the propshaft output has a major wobble/bend

andy10v has offered me a o1e from a 1992 a4 quattro (1.8 tdi) as a donor/replacement (it has problems selecting 6th) which was good of him

    final drive =3.89
    my a6 one=4.?? standard s2 ratio?

my initial plan is to strip both rear ends and see if the a4 prop output will fit the a6 box, hopefully shaft size, bearing, spline, length or whatever are the same however from the outside they appear different. the a4 one is smaller like o16, o1a and has that big rubber donut round it. the a6 one is much larger and is not surrounded however bolt holes look the same?

does anyone think parts are interchangeable or is the final drive difference a factor?

    info much appreciated!

sure the final in this tranny are 3889...?? the gear ratio code and year are between the 2 upper boltholes in bellhøusing.. stamped in like fx; CBL12345 or AHA 23456.
the mostly parts are interchangable, but for only the propjoint, they are to take off, and interchange with others..(100mm to 108, oor 115).. some does have a in6 bolt in center.. done in 1 minute..to change the ratio recuire spec tool, not many does have this in the garasje, or att home...
normaly are the mostly audi 4111.. and 6tr tranny with 3889 are pretty rare......
