  • Recommend a 400bhp clutch

    Hi guys,

so the car is all back together, here is the spec:

    aby engine (100k)
    rs2 turbo
    rs2 airbox
    rs2 ic
    rs2 exhaust manifold
3" turbo back exhaust,no cat only small silencer
    single mass 7a flywheel
    V Stream chips

apparantly V stream are good for 380bhp,I wouldn't be surprised if I am running slightly more due to the exhaust

fitted a 3b clutch just to get me back on the road for a bit and quel surprise it slips when in top gear on wot.
Pulls like a freakin train upto then, seems quicker than my red rs2'd coupe.

What "stage" clutch do I need? is it a Sach's only job?

I have also been looking for a clutch that will fit the 7a flywheel, two options I am considering are:

      Sachs Performance:

But I think I am going to try and fit a B5 RS4 OEM disk with 7a flywheel and PP, according to the following links it seems to work with the UrS4 so may be of some use to you. RS4 disks seem to hold well and not so expensive - Any input welcomed?

I still need to make sure 100% that it will all work, but the above links may give you some ideas

Sachs performance pressure plate with organic clutch disc is quite well proven.

It's what I have, and decided on it after doing quite a lot of research.

My car is lighter, but I ordered the one for the S4/S6 which is a much heavier car.

The RS2 is somewhere between the two I believe.

Helix also have a good rep, but are expensive and probably overkill.

If you want to do multiple dump the clutch starts then maybe you have to look at a paddle clutch, but they are a bit of a compromise for road use from what I can make out.

Clutchnet racing cover and full face carbon/ kevlar buttons sprung disc been working fine for me for over a year with 600nm torque 4.5-5krpm 415hp and ~440nm street use for 3 years prior to that.

thanks lads, which one will be cheapest and NOT slip?

also could i get away with just the friction plate? southbend paddle clutches look dirt cheap

IIRC the stage 3 upwards southbend uses the Sachs SRE pressure plate. Mine has one anyway
Don't forget you really should get the flywheel refaced though with a new clutch
