so completely toasted front diff allowing the centre Torsen to send all the drive to the busted front axle?
Or the centre diff is toast? I am sure you can find a replacement gearbox

At that price it would be worth shipping a known good gearbox out to you in SA, i shipped a pallet of parts inc a urs4 box out to someone in joburg for under £300

Planetary gears means torsen, so centre diff. Front diff is a straight up crown/pinion setup.

If the box is ok I guess you could fit a new diff, how much are boxes over there? Over here they are cheap so I would just throw in a whole used box.

        Unusual failure.

Hi, first off, Happy New Year guys, it's good to have the S2 back on the road, though not sure if the S2 seems a bit slower, what speed should i be getting in third gear, say at 4500 rmp.

The guy that fitted the box, said the ratios were the same as my original box, if they were not, would one of you guys be able to tell the difference?......

          Thanks.....

Can you get the code off the box, its either at the front top or underneath at the front.

It could be that they've used a different spec box as it was cheap.

If yours is a 3b 5 speed which judging by the 91 age it would be, it should be 115mph in 3rd at the limiter.

If they fitted a different ratio box and used your original rear diff it will feel like the tyres are scrubbing if you turn a very tight circle in a car park.
