What tends to break in an urS6 Auto box ?

My urS6 auto box is working perfectly, the fluid and the filter was changed about a year aog. (If you haven't done this, do it as it will help preserve the life of the auto box). There are threads about doing it.

And while I appreciate the car cannot be chipped up the the level of a chipped manual car, I was wondering what is the weakest link that will generally break on the standard auto box ?

Is there a direct fit auto box from say an S8 that will bolt straight in and allow the urS6's engine's output to be safely increased with an upgrade replacement auto box ?

I presume a DSG gearbox from a newer Audi is out of the question, maybe not on the actual fitment, but the electrical connections to make it work ?

    Any advices welcome.

    Thanks.

I had been driven the autobox for years with GT2871 turbo w/o slip on any gears.Even you hit the full gas from standstill, the car will gently start to move
from the autobox programme that's why it's durable.once i converted it to manual.the car was just day and night.

So you never broke the auto box even with a GT2871, which presumably put out more power than an RS2 set up, but you decided to go manual anyway, and the fun of driving the car was very much well worth the effort ?

Is the above a fair summary of your post ?

      Thanks, Pop.

The box has a torque limit ~350Nm IIRC so I reckon you could put a monster turbo in there and tune to within those limits and the box won't fail.

I was told on here that the other stress point can be found by launching the car having held it stationary with the brakes.

I'm sorry for scrapping the original box, it would have been interesting to open it up in hindsight.

According to PRJ, the torque limit is 400-410Nm.

The weak points are the friction discs, valve body and the brake band.
They do not tolerate abuse. Like WOT launch from standstill.

Like mentioned, change the oil and filter and make sure the ATF is a the correct level.

I have an S6 auto. Recently installed PRJ's AAN automatic chip set. I have only puttered about town so far, no highway driving, but the car is way smoother in the lower revs, builds boost faster and lower down than my 034MS Stg1 chip set.

BTW, your bracket works a treat. Did not have to change the bearing.

Indeed, once i went for the manual box.the car is much faster, pull really harder since there's no power loss from Torque converter etc.it's the best upgraded even compared with the big turbo.huge gain on the power.you still can put the big turbo but remember do not abuse it ie,Revving and shifting the gear from standstill.By doing so,the manual
box also couldn't tolerate on that too.I have 01E CBD narrow first gear, non flexible shaft.it's still doing good for 500Nm of torque but i rarely push it hard from standstill.

              Buddy,

I'm thinking to purchase another UrS6 with slushbox for DD.I'm going to convert it to LPG for saving $$.So the green UrS6 will be parking for the big project.
