    016 to 01E swap on my 3B

    Hey Guys,

I am looking for some info on a swap that I plan on tackling within the next month or so. I plan on putting a B6 3.0 01E 6 speed (I am rebuilding and using B5 S4 5th and 6th gears) in my '91 200 20v. That being said, I am trying to figure out the clutch and flywheel setup. I've done some searching and I just want to confirm that my findings are correct.

From what I understand, I can use my 3B flywheel, 3B pressure plate and a disk from a B5 S4 (larger shaft). The B5 disk is 239mm where as the 3B is 241mm. This should be ok, right? No transmission spacer needed either.

    Does this look correct?

    Thanks in advance,
    Nick

You need another flywheel...as the 3B from 200 has the input shaft pilot bearing into the crankshaft...the 01E has an shorter input shaft...i maibe wrong but dont think so.

Are you sure the B6 gearbox is an 01E?

I know that the 016 and 01E both share the same inside diameter pilot bearing though. Should be fine I would guess.

        Yes. The 2002 3.0 V6 comes with an 01E code FYF. 4.11:1 final drive and ratios closer to the 200's 016 than the B5's. 3.5, 1.89, 1.32, 1.03 are 1-4 gears.

The difference is the depth of the shaft, on the 016 the shaft goes through hole in the flywheel and inserts into the pilot bearing that is in the crankshaft.
On the 01E the pilot bearing is in the flywheel and shaft is much shorter.
They are not interchangable, you need to change the flywheel to new style.
S2 3B or 7A will work just fine.

and while i know it isnt for the I-5, i use an 01E (originally) from a B5 S4 with my 4cyl. the pilot bearing is in the end of the crankshaft, and it uses a B5 A4 clutch setup.

i have the B5 S4 clutch out in the shed, too. if you need a picture of it i can do that
