I have no idea what you were expecting but the "quattro" system is NOT a full time all wheels locked-together system. The front diff is a NORMAL open differential which behaves as you see, i.e. with the other wheels on the ground, you can turn the front wheel that is off the ground. That is normal.

That said, it does sound like you have some slack in the differential crown and pinion gears.
Well, I don't think it's normal to spin freely and then suddenly lock up..? And it shouldn't even spin with the other wheels on ground and the 1:st gear connected I think...

Hmm...I missed the 1st gear part and was thinking it was in neutral. What happens when you drive the car?

Barely got it inside the carage. Heard a really loud KLANG sound when I turned in a crossroad after some launch control tests. It was feeling like something hitted the bottom of the car. And then I tried a last launch and BANG, I thought the gearbox was loose or something. It sounded really bad... Treid reverse and GROUCH! But I got it inside the garage driving it.

Whoa. Just a minute. If you have one wheel off the ground and in gear, clutch out and you spin the wheel, you are rotating the engine. "Suddenly lock up" = compression stroke on the engine.

This is not what happens... seems like it's back to basics on this one.

The front diff on the car is open.
The rear diff on the car is open, and lockable (except for UrS6).
The torsen is a torque multiplying differential.

With one wheel off the ground:
              1) If it is a front wheel, you can turn it indefinitely, because the diff is open, no torque is transmitted to the other wheels nor to the crankshaft of the engine.
              2) If it is a rear wheel and the diff is unlocked then you can turn it indefinitely, because the diff is open, and again no torque is transmitted to the other wheels, nor the crankshaft of the engine.
              3) If it is a rear wheel and the diff is locked, then it won't turn because the rear wheels are locked together.

              Thomas:
You broke something in the gearbox and the bits are getting into the gears.

Yes, like he is testing this with transmission in first and the clutch out so what you are saying about the front differential, in this case, is wrong. Turning the front wheel that is in the air is turning the transmission which is turning the engine which is getting to a compression stroke on one of the cylinders.

No, it is not. The TORQUE SENSING (Torsen) differential distributes torque, it doesn't make more of it.

Must be shrapnel locking the crown wheel? Since you were able to drive it... If one shaft shears completely or diff crown/pinion explodes you weren't able to drive it unless it is a clean crank held together with pretension like a input shaft/flange to the diff.

I think you'll see a lot of rounded teeth-less gears... BTDT on a autocross car... still drives in unfailed gears until pieces get locked in and kill the rest.

It is a multiplier. Multiplying the lowest available input grip to the bias (predefined by preload/friction/ramp angle) to the other end with higher grip angle.
That's why with one wheel airborne it is useless since there is nothing to multiply.

Great tires! Whats wrong with them? Not maybe the best grip, the car was a bit tailhappy on track, but otherwise I haven't had any problems with them. And I have used Michelin, Pirelli, Continental, Falken, Kumho etc. tyres in 18-21" size. Compared to them I wouldn't say these are too bad.
