URS6 Avant C4 AAN CV boot replacement

    Hello you lot

I have an outer front CV boot gone Again!! The last time I replaced it I replaced the suspension cartridges as well so it was a complete all out jobby so I didn't need to know the easy route to removal of the driveshaft if there is one?

Question is now: Is there an easy route to removal of the driveshaft please??

I am guessing, remove the 6x internal splined bolts from the drive shaft CV gearbox end and then undo the big bolt through the wheel centre the other end and with a bit of wiggling and praying, it will come out and I can change the boot on my W/S bench - or in the bath if I need to??

    Thank you please.

You pretty much had it but you needed to loosen the large bolt at the end of the CV joint before anything else. See my new post above: http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=65106

iff is only the outer one...dont need to remove the inner bolts....just the big one from the hub, remove the strut, than screw the big screw in untill stops...and with somebody to help...tight that screw untill the cv pops out....change the boot and install back.
      Goodluck!

Umm...did you mean the axle or what? If you meant strut then that is more work that just removing the inner CV bolts and removing the axle.

Dont know iff you are able to remove the driveshaft without removing the strut...or at least the low balljoint...

If you buy a cv boot kit it comes with a replacement bolt

                      Pirvu is correct (just about)

yes you can change the boot by taking the big bolt out and popping the ball joint out of the strut. Then take the big bolt and wind it onto the end of the driveshaft(same as on an s2) and the cv joint pops off then replace the boot.

This is my preferred way on the c4 but each to their own.

**warning** do not wind the bolt onto the shaft on a c5 allroad as it rips the **** out of the threads and ruins the cv joint/bolt,don't ask me how I know
