    Audi 80 quattro 2.8 V6 - S2 Hub Conversion?

    Here's the Question(s);

Do S2 hubs fit directly onto the driveshafts of an Audi 80 quattro 2.8 V6 quattro (B4)?

Can you fit the drivetrain (drive shafts, prop shafts, diff, etc) from a Audi 80 quattro 2.8 V6 quattro (B4) to an Audi 80 quattro 2.0 16v (B3)?

    Cheers,
    Leigh

b3 is like coupe. how exactly like im not sure as I am yet to measure or offer up the s2 coupe rear subframe and gubbins

I take it s2 hubs don't fit the 16v shafts. Ive not tried them yet but presume. not even sure if the shafts are the same length.

looks like something we may both be doing.

So basically the rear driveshafts won't fit onto the diff....

It looks like the B3 is the same as an S2 coupe and the B4 is the same as an Avant

Sküll's explanation above is the simplest way of explaining the drive shaft sizing rule...

you can replace 4x108 2.8 quattro coupe hubs with 5x112 S2 hubs,

u ll just have to drill a larger hole for one of the fixing bolt, i did it on my previous 2.8 quattro coupe

from a little digging I think. please correct if im wrong

            aby to 16v b3

            1. inner cvs are different sizes. 95mm on the s2, 90mm on the 4 pot b3. the s2 part no has a c in it the 80 doesn't

2.looks like the aby and the 16v diff are same ratio. ill check my codes.

            3. rear wishbones same. front different. maybe 10mm narrower on 16v.

            4. bearing is 82mm on aby 75mm on 16v as per SKull.

as with some other s2 things some are car specific I think. im going to measure stuff.

there must be somebody who knows but they may not want to give away hard earned.

I think in the case of a B3 the long and the short of it is if you get 90 20v 7A driveshafts, prop, gearbox & diff then that will fit to existing subframes, etc and the S2 coupe hubs bolt directly on, there is a modification required to the strut I understand where the hubs bolt on, I think one of holes on the strut needs to be bored out.

Also if you use the 90 20v rear brakes as well I believe they're the same as S2 rears...

im going to use full s2 which I have already. its just I don't want to have to go through fitting the box without the engine. was hoping for a quick interim for hubs wheels and brakes.

the bolts are bigger on the 5 pot in general for the struts. not always but most of the time.

sounds like you have a plan.

That would be the way to go! I should probably do the same but I can't wait any longer, I suppose I can always upgrade again sometime later

your right its not always easy to wait. I want to do some mods but not all of it yet. I didn't pack and label it all and I need a few bits.

if I was 5 speed id do as you are sooner but its aby so I want to fit the subframe too.

                    what you running wheel wise?

I have 2 sets of wheels in 4/108, BBS RS 16x9's & Revolution Milleniums 17x8's but obviously they're no use to me now....I still have to decide on wheels but they will definitely be 17x8, I'm thinking OZ Rallye Wheels (Compomotive TH1780), Compomotive MO5 or 6's and BBS LM's or Another set of BBS RS's.......a set for show and a set for go can you tell I have a wheel addiction?

good to hear. I think my wheels will fit.

I got stock 15" on at present. I got s2, bbs rs2 and bbs rc in 5x112. 17x8 rs2's are going on I think as I cannot find a spare rc in 18" 5x112.

without wheels a car is nothing.
