where are gearbox codes?

where are gearbox codes?

anyone know where the gearbox code is on a 90 quattro box(torsen), i have been told it is in the upper left back part but i cant find it.

try the bottom, below the l/h driveshaft

Should be an 016 of some sort. Alered's right about location IIRC... You'll need the exact code to determine gear ratios inside it tho'
