I have been struggling with a clutch that was not getting full release and binding or dragging, on a Type 85.
Today I noticed that the rubber pipe to the slave cylinder got hard and swelled noticeably, when the clutch was depressed.
Did not think it would make a differnce but replace the pipe with one from a C4 S4, that I am stripping and it solved the problem. Noticed internal dia of pipe of the new pipe was much smaller.
So after 25 years service may be worth replacing when problems like this are encountered.
Should also mention the clutch is a double diaphragm which is good for 700Nm, (so they say) so pretty heavy duty.
