Gearbox ratios in 7A engine?

    Gearbox ratios in 7A engine?

    Hi,

    my friend has Audi Coupe model 89 FWD, and we couldn't find any info about gearbox mounted in this car, especially gearbox ratios. Maybe one of You colud help us with those? Any info, please

      hey, thanx for answer, but.. these numbers are for quattro gearbox. Are the ratios equal for quattro and FWD ?

        that's a good question. We only got quattro model coupes here in the states.

          Well, I haven't found any info about 7A - 5speed FWD gearbox ratios, so any help would be nice... Anyone?

            1ST - 39/11
            2ND - 40/19
            3RD - 40/28
            4TH - 35/34
            5TH - 31/17



            There is also a varient with taller upper gears.

              I second that.

              01A 5 speed, Codes ASZ (11/1988 to 10/1990) or AXM (from 10/1990)
              final drive - 37 : 09 = 4.111
              1st - 39 : 11 = 3.545
              2nd - 40 : 19 = 2.105
              3rd - 40 : 28 = 1.429
              4th - 35 : 34 = 1.029
              5th - 31 : 37 = 0.838
              reverse - 35 : 10 = 3.500
