There is not separate cooler for gearbox. Cooler is on radiator like automatic gearbox cooler.

Well, it is actually *IN* the radiator (integral part of the radiator). I know for my "new" C4 S4 V8 avant with a 6 spd CGM transmission (with oil pump), the radiator is exactly the same (same PN) as the radiator for a V6 autobox C4.

my guess is that once the oil cooler is primed (full of oil) then the cooler and lines cant hold anymore and would not drain back through pump then check level at gearbox??

there wouldnt be very much pressure, so barbed bango fittings and oil proof rubber lines to a remote cooler would be ok??

Yep mine has been fine using banjo fittings. You don't need to use a big cooler.
