2.6 and 3b gearbox are they the same

Can anyone tell me if a gearbox from a 2.6 v6 cabriolet is the same as a 3b. Are they interchangeable, and are the gear ratios the same.

Cab is FWD and 3B (code ARV) is Quattro so different type of gearbox.

Why not,... everyone else is. What's the difference bewteen a fwd 2.6 avant gearbox and 2.8 1999 caby gearbox? Different codes?

Sure. Besides, there is a small possibility that transmission has been replaced by some previous owner.

So a Quattro gearbox from a 2.8 or 2.6 AND matching rear diff will physically fit ?
What's the real world effect of having a 3.89 final drive compared to the S2 one ?
For what this cost me so far I could have bought an S2

yea it corekt. if you DO have the gearbox and rear di; it will fit.... what chassi do you have....small chassi ??
if you use the 3,889, you will save some fuel, the car arent so "crispy"... slighly slover , but higher topspeed...
have you the torque over 500Nm or MORE i would used the 3,889...but its not MY car...

3.89 gives more comfort for highway cruising rather than good acceleration of 4.11. So the choice would depend on the area, where the car is driven more often (city or highway). Generally, It is for each person's taste.

Looks like it is incorrect indeed. Got some info that 2.6Q is 3.89 also.
                            1. A scan of UK Brochure with data.
                            2. My friend has recently bought 80 ABC quattro sedan and it shows higher speed than my NG quattro coupe on the same revs.

UPD: My mate's ex-german 80B4 ABC saloon turned out to have 4.11 (CDV gerabox and AZC rear diff).
