    01E Selecting Reverse

Firstly its a 034 short shift with no lockout!!
How would i make the reverse part of the sideways movement of the shift harder??
I want to be able to push sideways to the first/second gate normally but then make the rest of the sideways (reverse) part a lot stiffer so as not to grab rev instead of first. Which if any of the detents do this or ??
    thanks

What happened to 01E Reverse = push down, pull to left and then push forward?

AFAIK, if adjusted properly, the 034 01E short shift does not change the normal functioning of the shifter (I saw Richard Hoffmann, the originator of the design install one in a 97 UrS6 and there were no issues with selecting Reverse).

The only thing I can think of Mal is to fit some sort of bracket under the tunnel to hold a detent spring so you have to push against it for it to move over.

What tunnel is fitted in your shorty now? The CQ one or an S2 one

Sorry should have descride better ,its the billet shifter just the ball and the stick type. No push down for reverse.
Thanks Brian thats what i thought.
I was thinking of a spring between the selecter shaft and the little arm where it attaches to the box? When you pick rev you only have about 3mm to play with and i will have to stop it from running against the seal.Iam thinking wave washer??
Which detents control the sideways move, looks like the first two from the bellhousing end???
        thanks

Umm...I don't think you got the right 034 shifter kit or it is missing pieces. I see a spring = push down for reverse in their kit. As for a detent/lock out frame, why not adapt one from a B4 ABY chassis or a C4 UrS4/S6?

It could be the JHM solid shifter 034 sell Dave?

Aaron stiffened the side to side detent in the 01E, but I dont think you could just do the reverse section without a bracket as Brian says.

Pretty lazy design if you ask me, reverse lockout is kind of essential

You would get MOT FAILED in my country for this not bad looking but still useless bling bling crap shifter.
