ENV Gearbox info 01E 6 speed Quattro TDi

I've just picked up a 2002 A4 2.5TDi gearbox with the code ENV.

It has the oil pump and oil lines of a later 01E and the wider 1st gear looking at the casting.

According to the info on the net, this has a higher final drive than the DQT and similar earlier TDi gearboxes but I haven't seen much written about them.

The final drive is 3.89:1 with a 0.56 6th rather than the 4.11 of the DQT.

I'd expect the oil cooler to be an advantage?

Good gearbox or bad?

Pros and cons please.

very nice tranny; its not commen.....remember the rear end....(!!!!!) you need the same ratio..( some of the automatic verson MAY have the 3,889)

There are a couple of ENV gearboxes on eBay.co.uk at present.
Just type in Audi and ENV and you'll find them. Not silly prices either.

Av got one of these boxes as a donor for rear output flange and possibly the castings+ front diff with gear & cooler pump going into a similar box from a6.

One less thing off the mind having oil cooler IMO

Box was defective due to selectors being jammed up, can't imagine that to be too common
