Expect the button has disappeared from the end of the slave rod, could cause this as you get less disengagement.

Well, a little progress today. Over the past week I've been consciously pressing the clutch pedal harder and faster when changing gears. The clutch pedal now seems to be getting lighter!? First thing this morning before I started the car I pumped the clutch maybe about 30 times and the pedal feel and quality of shift has improved even more...with the added peculiarity of a rubber type squeak when I'm pressing the pedal down. When I replaced the master cylinder last year I heard the same thing, presumably from the new MC moving the lave cylinder further. I'm now wondering if the slave I borked and needs changed? I think this will be my next port of call as it probably needs changed anyway.
I was growing quite attached to the skin on my knuckles too, oh well!

check the rod on the master cylinder on the pedal is going straight into the master cylinder from the clutch arm and not lifting up in the air also. going in square so to say,Comment

When I replaced the master cylinder last year I changed over to a 3b version without the rubber donut on the pushrod. It certainly appears to be going in straight enough I think.
Without wanting to sound rude, it definitely is getting better the more I pump at it. The bite gets slightly higher, pedal is lighter and it changes gear more easily. Even with engine off it goes into gear better now!?Comment

Well, success at last (fingers crossed). I re-configured my pressure bleeder last night so I could connect it to the slave and suck fluid/bubbles out without drinking anything nasty. Did this for a little while along with a couple of pumps of the pedal and the difference this morning is remarkable. It goes into gear much, much smoother now. The bite point has also been raised slightly too. I'm still going to replace the slave soon as a matter of preventative maintenance but the signs so far are that all these issues I've been having is due to air in the system and possibly a worn slave. Happy days
It's just a bit frustrating that I'd bled the system, at least twice using the proper kit and it still wasn't right but hey ho.
Many thanks to all for the suggestions, it really was much appreciated
cheers,

glad to hear that Mike.I'm going to bleed mine as soon as i received the pressure bleeder.this thing can confirm that i also probably have the airlock in the system since the more i pump the pedal, the better the clutch disengaged.one of a few I5 from Asia.Comment

Watch you dont crack the reservoir doing that.
I normally just get somebody to pump the clutch pedal as I open and close the bleed nipple.Current-2004 Impreza PPP wagon

20psi is way too high.i think 10-15psi is max.the tank is going to explode with that pressure.normally the tank was not designed to see that high pressure Mike.one of a few I5 from Asia.Comment
