    b5 s4 01E or TDI 6 speed swap into a c4 urs6

    I'm going to swap a 6 speed 01e into my urs6 but I'm wondering if a b5 s4
bell housing will bolt right up to the AAN engine or do you need to swap
over a bell housing from an older 5 pot car. Some people tell me it's a direct
swap but scotty from advanced automation which is the premier audi transmission
specialist in the US tells me it's not a direct swap. I don't know if he just wants
me to spend money unnecessarily. Any help?

There are minor dowel pin and bolt issues with the B5 S4 (same as the likely to be less abused C5 2.7tt A6 transmission) swap. Nothing really. You do have to swap the shifter stuff over from the 5 spd to the 6 spd. Lots of UrS folks in NAmerica have made this 5 spd to 6 spd swap because we never got the CBL 6 spd tranmissions that the "Euro" C4 UrS4/S6s got.

I presume the same goes for the TDI swap. Popdemonic has done that one after going from autobox to 01E quattro 5 spd first.

Tdi 01e fits fine. Some bolts might be shorter or longer and the dowel pins. Simple enough.

So the shifter linkages, rods, and shifter must be swapped over from the original 5 speed box.
Also so I need to remove some dowel pins and use different size bolts. Is this the general
        consensus?

          Yes.

Plus, if you have ProConTen, you lose it.

Some longer and shorter is required for swapping TDI.I believe i didn't put completed bolts back on.Just put them back as much as you could and it's fine.
