  • 3b Flywheel Timing Pin

    Hi guys.
I will be fitting 3B clutch and flywheel to my ABY.
Today I received the flywheel and I noticed that there is some pins missing/snapped.
Which pin/s are the the one responsible for timing?image.jpg

Umm...if I am looking *INTO* the pilot bearing in the middle, isn't the side in the first photo the side facing the clutch and the three dowel pins the clutch plate alignment dowels?

The timing pin is on the non-clutch side of the flywheel.

Your latest photo is the timing pin side and it should be that single pin at the 20:00 hr position.

Second picture around 8 o clock is the timing pin, I'd weld an AAN one one while the flywheel is out, they're much more robust

          Late by 1 minute.

          Second your suggestion.

Here is a link to the required AAN timing pin size and location info:

Might not be quite that easy. Someone here made a AAN "clone" timing "pin" that fit over the existing 3B pin (makes locating the AAN pin a no-brainer).

It was AndyP in this thread:

[QUOTE=UrS4boy;862432] BTW, I got curious about the 3B Flywheel in the photo above, i.e. 034105271J. It was replaced with 034105270AA but Kate, the friendly parts girl, forgot the date of the change. When I asked her what else the 270AA was used on she said only (ONLY!!) the the 3B in the S2s. WHAAATT!!??? So I asked her about the 3B in the 200 20VT and she says that one is a 034105270S and it was used for the MC. 1B *AND* 3B in C3 body style.

Here are a couple of photos of supposedly a 270S:

This one is supposed to be the other side of a 270S but I see 271T or 271J (and round and round we go and go)

just had my flywheel sorted. removed the 2 long pins on the clutch face side. machined that, lightened and balanced and the timing done as per the pic by urs4boy. its fitted but not run yet. again I forgot to take pics

If one of you boys could post picture of 3B flywheel with AAN pin welded on it it would be great as I'm slightly worried because the shape of 3B flywheel is not the same as AAN.
