Are you doing drag style launches with your car? Could it be possible, that you are heavily accelerating on uneven grip surface (snow/tarmac, gravel/tarmac etc)?

The point is, the V8 torsen does not survive torture as well as UrS4 locked diff or open UrS6 diff. Yes it is better and feels better to drive, but any form of overspinning one wheel would result in set of torsen remains instead of rear dff.

No drag style launches. And tarmac only :-)
      Car is 400hp though...

Lots of C4 UrS folks have done this. Probably best for a car that is tracked on pavement. Will easily blow up at the drag strip. Compatible with EDL on the 96 and 97 UrS6s. Can be considered a backwards step when replacing the lockable rear differential of the 92-94 UrS4 and 95 UrS6 - unless the car is tracked regularly and snow is uncommon.

I have a V8 torsen in my 90Q, its great on damp days like today but I do miss the locker on grass... its holding apron 450NM of torque currently from a 2.5tdi so can say anything about being weak. As for in a S6, I have a spare V8 diff I'm going either put in my 944 or my S6 auto

I think that along with a thicker anti toll bar would improve the handling (already on eibach springs and bilsteing dampers) - anything to reduce the understeer

Again, different chassis but I have a 25mm RARB too, understeer is still there but theres also oversteer to a greater extent depending on how you drive, only negative I have found is instability when high speed braking in corners but I have 288mm brakes which may be cause of that and possibly I need play with alignment alittle

However the car is more progressive with this combination, Ive never lost control of the car unlike with the open diff

got it in my car and I like it
                  it's easy to fit it
and, as guys told you, don't break it with hard launches ... first roll it than floor it
