    Front LSD in 01E ...

I have tried to locate 968 01E gearbox with Torsen .... it is like wining in lotto ... I know Quaife has their ATB for 01E. Any other choices ? I know Billzcat1 is trying to make on but the project is late ... any other sources ?

    Albert,

Are you sure about a front LSD?
Would it not give much more grip to the front axel providing more understeer?

I mean, with the Torsen at the rear and the open diff at the front, the center torsen will send more to the back due to the more effecient torque distribution there, making the car more fun. With three torsen (LSD) car will be more understeery under power than with just the rear and center.

I think is a must for gravel or snow but for tarmac I have my doubts.

    Opinions please?

Maybe you better use dragracing slicks, thats good improvement
I know owner of integrale with ~700 hp. He threw out OEM torsen in rear when dragraced- because it breaked frequently

Audi S4 S6 01E Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential
A direct replacement for the standard Audi open differential, the
Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential transforms your car’s performance.
            Manufacturer: AUDI
            Product Code: QDF8Q
            Price: £715.85

Good for street use during winter. No guarantee how much power it tolerates. Older Quattros had the pneumatic front lock and this alternative is ok for the 20v S4 S6 models

Is it Clutch Type (1 way, 1.5 way, or 2 way) or Geared Torque-Sensitive Differential (Torsen) ?

Quaife will happily take any power You'll ever have.

Although, it is not always so easy to drive with quaife and high power. See how much it tends to pull here and there:

Reason is, the quaife allows the other tire to spin before locking itself. Shows as heavy torque steer.

Repo what would you use for the rear diff then? Just the standard and lock it or are you using a rear quaife as well? If so which one?

Standard block blows up at hard launch with non slipping clutch. 600hp and normal sport tyres on normal pavement do the trick pretty certain.

OE torsen from V8 should endure better, and is pretty easy to fit in.

I'd use CrMo spool and custom inner CV studs in original rear diff case. Good for drag. Sucks for everything else.

I can provide such parts. Not cheap though...

I found a source for clutch plated LSD for 01E gearbox.

Front axle, 1 way, 25% (can be adjusted).

                            Price is very good

If anyone interested, drop me PM.

Could this be worth a try? According to the manufacturer's web page, the set consists of 2 of those friction pieces and 4 springs + the installation hardware. Not too expensive if it works properly. I wonder if that can be installed in front or rear or both?
