I sold my rs4 earlier this year with a slight noise in the gearbox.
It turned out to be the crownwheel wearing on the casing. A common fault with these boxes.

Interesting, I guess as a result of wearing diff carrier bearings? This isn't a commonly documented issue on the S2 / RS2 boxes. Not sure if that's because it doesn't happen or people haven't clocked it
Regarding the input shaft, CRB does not have the 105H?
The strange thing is that the RS4 gearbox has the 105J input shaft, and I thought that the 105H was the best one.
So, as my case is ok, I did the check only on internal parts.
If you guys want to talk about putting RS4 parts in an RS2 transmission, you might want to at least get the RS2 transmission codes correct. (Sorry).
Very early RS2s had the S2 avant 6 spd CGR transmissions.
At some point (I can't figure out exactly when), the CGRs were replaced by the CRB transmission (exclusive to the RS2) with the wide first gear on the "necked-down" (twistable) mainshaft.
Apologies to all for accidentally quoting the wrong gearbox code - Happy to be correctly for anyone else reading / relying on this thread.
