    01e centre diff

for several years ive been running with a modded 01e t2 centre diff done by strasis engineering ,, prospered sale a t3 diff which has been modded to fit the 01e box , are these a better diff will they give more rear biass than what I currently have , what I want is a diff that gives 60 rear /40 front most the time , the torson seem to be to much power to front 99% of the time . has any one fitted another type diff in centre , maybe the Subaru adjustable bias diff

The T3 diff is 40/60 F/R - it is rear biased and has a 4:1 ratio like your Stasis diff claims to.

I can't speak from experience, just bought, today, a RS4 B7 gearbox to do this with.

DCCD would be a neat option but you'd be quicker trying fit he whole gearbox rather than the diff... Then the electronics

I would go with the prospeed set up if I already had a 01E as wouldn't need shafts and mounts sorted for a 03A. And bearing purely mechanical its a straight forward install

Issue I can see with the 4:1 Stasis is under power its effectively locked, inducing understeer

the staiss diff only seems to give me rear bias when I flick hand brake then floor it into /out of a corner the rest of the time power seems to be nearly all a front ,saying that I run a plated lsd front and rear and have just removed the front diff to get it set up as I feel that's not doing any thing as we still had tq steer [ front]

I run a B7 RS4 box and it gives a more modern, dynamic feel to the car. If you are sensible there is no understeer. I don't have enough power to properly loose traction in the dry but in the wet it is pretty lively at the rear end, will wag its tail in 2nd & 3rd on corner exit.

I did my own centre different mod based on the stasis one which basically reconfigures the gear timing for different torque bias.

Along with the wave track rear diff fitted on launch its definitely the rear driving the car forward as it leaves 2 lovely black lines when the tires are cold.
I'm going to be building up a custom geared 6 speed hopefully this or next week for mine and chucking a wave track in the front as well should make for an interesting drive

Ah thank you, will message him this evening, I did a search but couldn't find any build information from him regarding it.

The newer quattro system uses a "crown wheel" differential which is a open diff with rear bias and a computer controlled clutch pack to lock it, same idea as DCCD. If could would out a easy way to operate the clutch I think would be ideal in a rally set up

Trouble is those boxes weigh about 150kg!
All the info to fit the RS4 box is in my build thread

dropped front lsd off at racing tranmissions to have it setup today, also took a spare 01e centre diff [ a welded one which ive never tried out ] to show him to see if they can make me a plated centre diff , he recons I should try the welded diff as it will be fine , I was originaly concerned that as its welded it could damage my dog box but jhono [racing transmissions] said there is no reason why it would damage the box , so after all these years I may well give it a go , he said its the front and rear diffs that you don't want welded and as I run plated fr and rear they will take up any scrub effect caused by locked centre
