    silly question but.....

Sorry for asking such a Joey question but how much different are the driveshafts on a UR quattro RR 20v in terms of strength and durability to those on an S2? Indeed what about the rest of the drivetrain ie rear diff etc...?

    Cheers
    Adam.

Not that silly question btw. The most qutstionable part of the transmission is probably rear driveshafts. If we are talking about S2 coupe, so ANY typ85 quattro rear shafts and joints are way stronger than S2 ones. IMHO.

The inner CV joints on the UrQ and S2 are both 108mm. The outer bearings on the UrQ are 82mm with the S2 being 75mm. This may suggest the outer CV joints on the UrQ are stronger than the S2. The UrQ has a nut type stub and the S2 uses a bolt type stub. Some say the nut type is stronger, as the shaft on the stub is not compromised by the hole in the S2 stub. Also the CV is probably larger, making it stronger.

On the front both the UrQ and S2 are 108mm inner and 82mm outers.
