ACQ Clunk noise - Rear diff?

Just got my turbo converted Typ 89 Coupe Quattro back on the road after 8 years in the garage (and they said it would never happend)

But I got a clunk sound from the rear somewhere. I can notice it often starting after coming to a complete stop. I can tell the sound comes from the rear of the driveline or suspension. My guess is the differential, the CV-joint, driveshaft support or some brushings.

In know that the driveshaft support is not all good, since I can feel some vibrations sometimes during acceleration. However, here is where it becomes complicated - the clunk never appears when the car has been sitting for some hours, in other words completely cooled down.

Naturally I will go under the car and take a better look, and try to eliminate different things. But I would like to hear if somebody else has had the same sound?

The diff and the CV joints are my main suspects, since I am thinking that the metal can expand if they get hot, and give wrong margins and cause it to make those sounds. I don't see anything else being affected on wether the car have been sitting for hours or not? Do you?

Rear diff mount is worth a look and also check the rear brake pads for movement in the carriers.

Propshaft will get heat transfer from engine/gearbox......could it be joint(s) on prop?

Fun (?) fact - Changed to winter tires, and not heard the sound since (about one month ago). The tires on the right side rear was a bit more worn than the rest. I know newer quattros dislike more than 5% difference. Coul it be the reason? The temperature outside has naturally also been a bit lower, but not that much. Thinking that the diff could be working overtime or something ..
