I have heard of one S2 Avant that had an automatic box fitted. It was mentioned a long time ago, probably on the yahoo pages.
It would not be too hard to get one in but I am not sure on how much torque they can withstand - maybe a newer auto box would be better but I think they get some ECU control - which will make it trickier.S2,RS2,S4 WB,RS4,S4 B8,RS6 C5,RS6 C6,R8Comment

I wouldn't have an auto RS2, simply because I prefer more involvement driving, not because it won't handle more torque than a manual. It will handle more torque than most of Audi manual boxes, even an early 4 speed auto.
