Has anyone looked into converting to automatic transmission? Does anyone known a suitable specialist that I could consult ?

              Why?

I have heard of one S2 Avant that had an automatic box fitted. It was mentioned a long time ago, probably on the yahoo pages.

It would not be too hard to get one in but I am not sure on how much torque they can withstand - maybe a newer auto box would be better but I think they get some ECU control - which will make it trickier.

Getting a nice shiney new DSG box in would be fun. Not fun trying to make it work, but once it was a goer......

Imagine launch control and split second gear changes every time!

I wouldn't have an auto RS2, simply because I prefer more involvement driving, not because it won't handle more torque than a manual. It will handle more torque than most of Audi manual boxes, even an early 4 speed auto.

                          A lot more.

As far as I can determine off other forums the DSG box goes 'pop' (or is it crunch? I should know...) at anything much over 260lb ft...

So whilst it's smooth and nice to have, if you want to make your car go faster the DSG box isn't much cop...
                            'The Bacofoil Express'...

                            No more.

Leon TDI 150 run in now.

                            Very slow.

                            Needs a chip.
