Intermittent clutch slip

I had this a while back on my daily driver (Leon TDI FR) It was always in either 3rd or 4th under load and the rev needle would rise but speed wouldn't. I put it down to the clutch being on the way out but carried on with it. It then vanished for months and then returned a little while later before vanishing again. It has not done it now for nearly 10k miles. I had it in the garage to have it checked and everything was confirmed as being fine.

It has never done it since and I put it down to some fluid from somewhere leaking on to the plate. Sweaty diesel and all, just assumed this was it. Never did get to the bottom of it but it sounds very similar to what you are experiencing.

That sounds exactly like mine! I'm gonna be hanging around in Britain a bit longer than I wanted to now, I think I'll just keep an eye on it until October/November when hopefully I will finally escape to NZ. I think that gives me enough time to assess whether it gets worse and a new clutch is needed.
