Does anybody know or have first-hand experience on exchanging rear differential output flanges ("AEC" diff flange 100mm to "ARS" diff flange 90mm)? Even though these differentials are quite identical otherwise, OE part numbers for flanges are still pretty different but i'm wondering about differences. Might be only flange width and thats it?

3 sizes. 4cyl were 90mm, 5cyl N/A were 100mm (all USA ones) and S2 / 5 cyl turbo were 108mm.
that said, if they are both the same type diff and the flanges are the difference they are swappable. its one 6mm catheter bolt in the middle of the flange into the diff.
its one of the only few differences in the diffs. that and breather....

Thanks for the quick reply. Managed to swap differentials on my typ85 today and as above - flanges are swappable, only difference is in flange width.Comment
