  • Which are the lightest OE (Factory) 17" Audi wheels? 7 or 8" wide

I'm looking for a set of 17" Audi wheels but they've got to be light.

From my experience of 16s, the lightest wheels tend to be Forged... is this true of the 17s also?

Does anyone have the weight of these?

AUDI A8 D2 forged 5 spoke brushed alloy wheel is very light if not the lightest 8x17 wheel that I know of.

I think the same goes for the A6 C5 V8 5-spoke wheels but those have the better offset for B4 models. A pic of these on my ex Audi V8 image_33000.jpg

        Good info - but I reckon the D2 A8 is lighter .

Other wheels weights I have had on my C4 S6 -

        Bolero 17 8x17 ET 40 - OEM fitment - 12 KG
        Avus 17x7.5 ET 45 - Audi B5 S4 - 11 KG
        Avus 17x8 ET 35 - Audi C5 S6 - 11.5 KG
        Audi S6+ 17x8 ET 40 - Audi S6+ - 11.2 KG
All these look beatiful but are heavy0 I use the last two sets mentioned above on my car.

        Avus 16x7.5 ET 35 - OEM - probably 7kg - really light wheel

My next challenge is to find a light 17 or 18x8 wheel that is less than 9 kg and to look OEM

I would not use 7 1/2 inch wheel on a 1750 kg car...

Why would that be? Many heavy cars have been factory fitted with 7'' wide wheels.

Er.. I've no idea where your ideas come from but you'd better tell VAG as they've been using narrower wheels on cars heavier than that for years... Audi A8 comes with 16 x 7" Winter wheels. Syncro 16 Transporter (mine weighs over 2300kg) comes with 16 x 5.5" rims.

Light and OE are rarely mentioned in the same breath

Why do they have to be OE? BBS, OZ etc. do light wheels that will suit the car and are made to OE standards
