  • Ideal offset and tyresize on Audi Coupe B3

    Hello Audi people!

    After a couple years driving with my Coupe in a nice Comfort setup (loweringsprings and some 17” alloys) i decided that i wanted something else.
    I have another car for longtrips and a Van for random stuff.

    Decided to put some KW V1 coilovers on my Audi Coupe B3 2.2 (FWD) for some nice lowering.
    Now i am looking for an ideal set of wheels.
    Now i found a brand of wheels where i can choose the offset.

    Specs of the wheels;
    8jx18”
    ET( offset) i can choose between 30 and 45

    wanted tyres;
    215/40R18 Hankook Ventus V12 EVO 2 or it is better to go for 215/35/18?

    Can anyone tell me the ideal offset and tyresize? I want to give it a nice lowering.
    Currently have a 40/30mm drop but want lower.

    Thanks!

    Are you trying to achieve gay Euro stance look or improved handling?

        There is no "best" of the gay Euro stance world........ It's all $h!t.. .

          The new member must be really impressed with the help he is getting!

          The coupe has a 37 offset so I guess the 45 will need spacers but the 30 will get the tyre very close to the arch if not make contact considering that you want to lower it further!

          Maybe some (not so homophobic) members come along with more knowldge and experience than me to help you!

            The ideal tyre size and offset is subjective based on what you want from the car, so there’s no correct answer.

            8J x 18 ET30 with a 225/40 tyre is a good fit. If you want the car to handle reasonably then don’t lower more than about 15-20mm without further modifications to correct the roll centre height.

            If you want to go really low then your wheel and tyre choice is dictated by what will fit without rubbing anything, especially as you will be introducing more body roll. I only modify my car to increase its performance so I can’t really help you here

              That is a really childish answer.. I do not need a car to prove i am straight or not. Maybe you do..

                  With 8J on the rear I would advise ET30 +/- and 225 tyres to best fill in the arches (Cannot recall perfectly from memory). For the front 215-225 will both do at ET27-32 depending on your tyre size and if you are running a little bit of negative camber so you won't get any arch rubbing.
