  • RS 2 Tire info.... 245 to 225

    Hi
Has anyone got info relating to Rs 2 Sp 8000 245 tires.... Being specially made for the RS2.... and the fact they were only as wide as a modern 225.... as I need now to prove something to the Spanish ITV.... That a modern 245 is to wide for a 7J rim.... which should be obvious to a car Specialist... as I need to modify my paperwork.... to suit my car that has 225 tires

Hope I have explain correctly.... but anything relating to this would be helpful

    Thanks
    RS 2 580HP

Hmm, that's a tricky as the original SP8000 were indeed made specially for the RS2 and are much closer in size to a 225/45 than a modern 245/45...

Finding info proving this could be difficult, it's probably on here somewhere but finding the thread could take ages as the search function doesn't seem to work for me at all.

That said I have driven an RS2 that the owner not knowing any better had fitted with a new set of 245/45 Continentals and it actually felt fine and the tyres didn't look too silly on the the 7" rims. Not an optimal solution though, a 225/45 is about the perfect size for a 7" rim, 215/45's also fit this size very nicely but let's rule them out as it's 225's you want.

Hopefully another EU member has the info required and reads this!

Depends on the rim size too as Kit says, on 7's should be 225
