    no no no..... I'm well aware of the consequences of mounting the wheels further out...... just misunderstood what you were saying.

    When you said 'That thickness will destroy the wheel bearings' I presumed you were talking about the thickness of the spacers causing ill effects rather than the amount the wheels were being offset by.

      I don't think its a hijack but perfectly applicable to wheel offsets. Spacers are appropriate if applied correctly. They have such a stigma attached because many problems can be caused if they are used inappropriately. Hub centric spacers are a must if the wheel no longer locates on the hub. Using an offset different to the factory amount will affect bearing wear but then again so does very hard cornering when moving to really gippy wider rubber. I use ET32 on the rear and ET29 up front. I expect my bearings to perish sooner but they have done over 145k miles so far so I wouldn't be upset if they needed replacing.
