  • Wheel offsets.

Ive been looking for a set of wheels for an s2 and ive been told that the ideal offset is 35.

Ive seen a set that are 8.5x18 but the offset is 45. Am i going to have any clearance issues with the inside of the wheel touching any suspension or body and if I need to use spacers then am I going to need 10mm spacers to bring the offset back down to 35 and will that then cause any clearance issues with the arch and the tyre.

Any light anyone can shed on this would be great.

    Tim.

It depnds on what size tyre you go for but I'd say the best off set is between 32-35. You didn't say if yours in an avant or a coupe as they are different on the rear set up.

I might have my A8 sport rims for sale shortly with 15mm spacer and good Falken tyres if your interested. They work out at 33et which is spot on, on an avant when lowered on H&R's.
Just some finishing touches to do now

Coupe I guess by your garage...

I'm running AVUS Mk2's with 15mm spacers & 235 tyres and they look

        But I think these are 8 x ET45 not 8.5...

        There is this http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

        That may help you...

Ive just had a look at that website and guessing that the standard alloys are 7 with a 35offset that an alloy with 8.5 with 45 and 10mm spacers would be 19mm closer to the strut and 19mm closer to the arch. Anyone know if theres enough room in the arches for that?

Stock Avus are 7.5J ET37 with 205 wide tyre.

Stick to 8J ET30 to ET35 with 225 wide tyre and you'll be fine.

Unless it's a show car then little point going too mad IMO.

                    I there
i know by experience that 8x18 et 45 with 225/45 15 will hit the steering bar
I had to put 10mm HR spacers on the front on each side so with 8,5 et 45 you will need more

Alrite Tim, The bbs RSII i have are 18x8.5 with et32 offset and are perfect even on the lowest setting on the H&R's. (235/40/18)
You would need a 13mm spacer for a perfect fit, 15 would be ok tho or you just might get away with a 10mm on 225/40's.
