  • urs4 s6 tyre size

Am i correct in thinking that the s6 plus spec alloys 8x17 are to have 250 40 17 tyres, seems very wide ? hopefully no issues with rubbing . M c5 has 255 tyres on it and they are big rims, anyone recommend a particular brand?, looking to falken or vredestein at present.

Yep 255/40 x 17" is the correct factory size for the 17" x 8J plus speck rim. I run them on my plus speck S6 using Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 2's after doing research and getting some advice of a few on here.

Just incase anyone wants to know, for the 16" 7.5J Avus wheel supplied on all S6's except the plus speck cars you need 225/50 x 16" tyres. The same wheels was supplied on the C4 S4.

Any plus speck rim janis as per the factory.Brilliant they are 2.

I also managed to get a set of these a couple weeks ago Fuch 16" x 8J forged alloys and i will be running them factory speck which is 225/50 x 16" tyres as long as i can get the tyre of my choice in that size which i fear is going to get difficult as we go forward.

All the answers in this thread and I didn't see any mention of the offset of the wheels. "ET" is important because it dictates how far away from the center of that 8J wheel the inner and outer wheel edges and subsequently the tire sidewalls are from the suspension on the inside and the fender lip on the outside.

The S6plus wheels were ET40, 8J x 17H2 and 5 x 112, with build tag code C7U, and PN 4A0601025N. These wheels were also on last run of European/UK UrS6s in 1997 (and 96?). The tire option code was H2N which meant 255/40 ZR 17 Tyres.

Has anyone tried out (or a comment) on the following combination of rims and tires on a C4 S6: Rims: 8x19, ET 40. Tires: 255/30 R19? Is 8x18, same ET + 255/35 R18 a more suitable option for this car?

I run Audi c5 s4 v8 17 x 8 et35 rims on my Urs4 advant. With 255 40 17 continental sport contact 2 n2 Porsche spec tires the rear tires sit just level or ouside the wheel arch. So maybe the extra 5mm offset with my et 35 vs the s6 plus et 40 pushes things over the edge or my tyres are actually wider than they say? Was thinking of 245 40 17 or 235 45 17 for my next tires.

Just to add I actually had to add too much negitive camber to the rear to get the tires in the arch. I'm at 1.75 deg.

                              I have 8 x 18 Mk 1 S8 rims. The ET is 48, and the spacers used I think are 10mm, so a working ET of 38.

The tyres are 255/35/18. The Dunlop sport tyres are a little bit big for the 8" rims, but they do protect the rim from being scraped.

I really like the S8 rims so am sticking with them and I like the way the tyre is protected by the 'overhang' of the tyre.

But if I was getting new rims I would get 8.5" wide.

Personally I think 19 might to be big for a C4 body, but that it just my own opinion.

                              HTH.
