  • 18" S8-wheels do they fit??

    Hi all,

I found an add offering 18" S8 wheels in Avus design.
I wonder they are a 1 on 1 fit to my 3B S2 coupe or do I need modifications?

    The dimensions: 8J X 18 H2 ET48., tyres: 245 / 45 / R18 96Y

    Thanks
    Carlo

Hi Carlo, 245 seems a bit wide on an 8" rim mate?
IMHO, you would throw out your speedo a fair bit with that profile combination. As for ET, my understanding was that 35 was the preferred?

Nope too wide you need 225/40/18 tyres on them, you can squeeze 235 at a push.

Also you will require 15mm spacers.

        Thnx Jamo,

I see you have them on!
I assume you have this tyre size and spacers?

Do they rub or do they stay clear?
        Whats the tacho change?

        Thx

Yeh mate i bought the set i outbid you on (sorry dude)

Tacho change is less than 1% on the tyre calculator, and that is the tyre size and spacers that myself and Quattronutter are running on the S8's

MartinJS is also running the same tyre size but he has monster 20mm spacers for a really wide track look.

Do your homework here and on the links provided - http://s2central.net/wheels_tyres.html

245 tyres are fine on an 8" rim - the profile needs to be right to match factory speedo setting (like its deadly accurate - NOT). Remember not all tyres marked '245/40' will actually be 245mm wide and have an exact 40% profile. Your mileage may vary - literally !
