Hello, i own a Audi CQ 20v 7a, car doesn't have any spark, i checked the distributor, timing and ignition coil. I tried 2 diferent Distributor's and 3 ignition coils.
The car is cranking but its not getting any kind of spark. Any other solutions ?
Yes, as Mike has said above, codes might help. Any currently saved, note them, clear them and see which ones might return. Do you need help with that?
Is this the first time you have noticed this "No spark after driving" has happened?
You mentioned "after driving", does the engine start when cold?
Im going to have to get in contact with a friend, that has a computer , cable & software to pull out the codes.
Let me recap how this happened, maybe it will help you guys out to give me a solution.
I took a friend for a ride to show him the car, driving hard, shifting high and feeled how the car was like cutting out a bit, barely noticable. After that i parked it and from there the car cranks but has no spark, even when cold. I should have said this from the start.
You don't need a computer and cable to read codes. All you need is a paper clip and a 12v LED! check out instructions on 20v.org or do a search on reading 7a flash codes.
The diagnostic plugs under the dash are where you 'plug in' get the LED flashing, count flashes and compare against the tables out there on the Internet.
Bowie's idea about the flywheel senders makes sense with your symptoms (from what you said in that other thread, possibly both no fuel or spark), and it is quite easy to check these and replace them.
You seem to have access to some spare parts, perhaps you have some extra senders, if needed , and an electrical multi-meter? You can meter them without removing them; or before installation.
Also, IIRC, even though the two senders are colour-coded, they are otherwise identical, so can be substituted for one another.
Ordered some new Senders and going to check tomorrow, if thats not working, probably going to get the car on a platform and take it to a lift to remove the gearbox and check the so called pin on the flywheel. I doubt im going to be able too see the pin from the Sender holes
Ahhhaaa! I was wondering why the pin would just snap off in service. That suddenly makes sense when you mention those Allen bolts. If they dropped out I can see how that would take out the pin.
